Privacy policy

founders.page is a public homepage for founders. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and how to get your data removed.

The short version

  • Your founder page is public by design. Anything you put on it can be seen by anyone, including search engines and AI assistants.
  • Your email address and password stay private. We never sell personal data.
  • Visitor stats on founder pages don't use cookies and never store raw IP addresses.
  • You can hide or delete your page from the dashboard, or email us to erase your account completely.

What we collect

Your account

When you sign up we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password, or, if you sign in with Google, your name, email and profile photo from Google. We also keep sign-in sessions (a session cookie, plus the IP address and browser of each session) so you stay logged in and we can protect your account.

Your founder page

Everything you add in the editor: your username, name, photo, tagline, bio, location, tags, products (with descriptions, links, screenshots, status, user counts and revenue figures), milestones, social profiles, a booking link, your page colour and, only if you choose to add them, a public contact email and phone number. This information is published on your page.

If you use “Import from X”, we look up the public X profile you name and copy its photo, name, bio, location and website into the empty fields of your editor. If your page lists a GitHub username, we show your public GitHub contribution activity.

Visitors to founder pages

To show founders how many people visit their page, we record page views, clicks on links and time on page. With each event we keep the approximate location (country, region, city) derived from the IP address, the browser and device type, and where the visitor came from (referrer and UTM tags). Visitors are counted with a hash of the IP address and browser that uses a salt that changes every day, so we can count unique visitors without cookies and without storing the IP address, and the same person can't be followed from one day to the next. Known bots and the page owner are excluded.

Using the website

We use website analytics (Google Analytics, Plausible, Umami and DataFast) to understand which pages people visit and how they find us. Google Analytics sets cookies; the others are designed to work without identifying you. We also record visits from AI crawlers to understand how AI assistants use the site.

When you contact us

Messages you send through the support chat or by email, and any details you include in them.

Cookies

  • Sign-in session: keeps you logged in. Required.
  • Referral (fp_ref): if you arrive through a link with a ?ref= tag, we remember that tag for 30 days so we know which link brought you when you sign up.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies, as above.
  • Support chat: Crisp sets cookies only once you open the chat.

How we use it

  • To run founders.page: create your account, publish your page, keep you signed in and secure.
  • To send emails you need: sign-in verification codes and a welcome email. We don't send marketing newsletters without asking.
  • To show you your page's visitor statistics.
  • To understand and improve the product, and to prevent spam and abuse (for example, removing pages that break our terms).

Where your public page appears

Public founder pages are listed in our directory and sitemap, can be indexed by search engines, are described in our llms.txt files for AI assistants, and are available through our app for ChatGPT and other AI assistants, which can search founders and read public pages. Only information already shown on your public page is shared this way. Your email address, password and unpublished settings never are.

Who helps us run the service

We use these providers to host and operate founders.page. They process data only to provide their service to us:

  • Vercel: website hosting and delivery
  • Neon: database hosting
  • Cloudflare R2: storage for photos and product screenshots
  • Tinybird: visitor statistics for founder pages
  • Resend: sending account emails
  • Google: sign-in with Google, and Google Analytics
  • Plausible, Umami, DataFast: website analytics
  • Crisp: the support chat
  • FxTwitter: looking up public X profiles when you use “Import from X”

Some of these providers are located outside your country, so your data may be processed in other countries, including the United States.

We don't sell personal data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect founders.page and its users from fraud or abuse.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and page: for as long as you have an account.
  • Deleted pages: deleting your page in the dashboard takes it offline straight away and removes your photo and screenshots. We keep the username reserved so nobody else can take over your link, along with the page record. To have your account and all remaining data erased, email us.
  • Visitor statistics: kept so founders can see their history; they contain no IP addresses or cookies.

Your choices and rights

  • Edit or remove anything on your page at any time from the dashboard.
  • Hide your page (it goes offline but stays editable) or delete it.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to erase your account entirely by emailing founderspage.info@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Security

Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and access to our systems is limited. No service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

founders.page is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll remove the account.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell account holders by email about significant changes.
